Okay... Now I'm confused, too.
The category is "RP" inside that, there are sub-categories. You see them listed at the top, above threads where most of our RPs are. The sub-categories are "Adult RP" "Asexual RPs" "RP Planning" and, as of the other day, "Halloween RP 2013". Inside each sub-category, there are threads. And, in this new "Halloween RP 2013" sub-category, there are three threads. There's the one we're talking in now, the rules and sign-up and such. There's also "Kumori and Amei" (for us) and "Brent" (for you an Kira).
But, I also made this thread an announcement (you've seen other announcements before) so that it shows up everywhere. So that anyone of your friends or my friends that comes here for the RP, they can easily find the sign-up no matter where they are on the website. But, that may be why you got confused.

Dani, I know all that, but you finally did answer my first question when I asked where the threads would be. when we were first talking about this, you were talking about it as if they were in THIS thread. And I had only noticed the other hollween category outside of this thread today. It never showed up anytime before and after this debate.
but, now that I CAN see them, I will finally proceed with the RPs.

Alright... Sorry if I ended up getting a little annoyed, Soul. Blame it on.. that time of month...
Now, we have to figure out the layout of the asylum and make a map. Do you have skype, so we can work on it together and stuff? Or, do you just want me to figure it out? Or let you do it? Either way.

The layout of the asylum shouldnt be too complicating, lets just put at two floors, with a basement, and a west and east wing, with the east wing decimated and left to be corroded away. So there can be a single main kitchen with a large mess hal that is located at the center of the estate. there are multiple open rooms and bathrooms as well as shower rooms that can be located on both wings. Also, offices for doctors and professors can be located in the main building, where as infirmaries can be located on the wings on the second floors. obvious stuff such as the lobby or waiting room will be in the main entrance of the building.
Also, I just want to point out one last thing to establish fully with both parties, so if Kira doesnt see this, be sure to tell her in advance.
Simon is a mystical entity under the influence of strong and powerful magic. But in his life he was a very deeply disturbed psychopathic man that had records of torturing his victims not just in grusome violent displays, but he would also torture them psychodelically, like as he kills them he tries to pull their minds down to his level of insanity as well. So with that potent combination, Simon has the ability to peer into other minds and use their traumatic experiences against them by establishing realistic illusions. In other words, while Simon is hunting you through this asylum he will be mindfucking you through whether he is sees you or not. Because thats what the land did to the previous occupants. Ive already started an intro for rp that explains it briefly on the asylums history and its patience. The mystical aruar that lingers through the property messes with your brain severly, which why I think Kumori and Amei are perfect because they are just billboards of traumatic experience.
This Roleplay is going to serves as a mystery and psychodelic horror, which means I will be providing both small and big hints through out that will all indicate something important.
For example, since you already know that this place has no water system due to obvious reasons, you would figure that the showers will not work...but, once I mention in my reply about a drop of water coming from the shower heads or faucets, you must acknowledge that, wether to just merely notice it as strange, or take advantage of it.
or another example, you discover an office, unlocked and opened, you assume that after exploring enough of the place you think there is no documents, wrong, you find a document on the desk that mentions clues about the asylums past or written notes on one of the patients.
If I say or mention anything that is put of the norm, it will be intentional, if I mention a document, you must take a look at the document, if you hear a strange noise, you must acknowledge it and decide wether to investigate or not, the point im trying to make is that while you trying to survive this hunt through a hell hole, you are trying to solve a mystery that might just save your life.
does that make any sense?

Makes sense. Like the game Outlast. It takes place in an asylum, and since you're a reporter it's your job to notice everything. Or at the very least, since you're probably scared out of your wits, everything you can. So, yea..
Alright. I'll get to work making a map. Or possibly finding a pre-existing map and changing it to fit. Either way.

Alright, Shroomy. But, just so you know, most powers won't work here. Just to make sure that nobody's too OP and that they are actually scared by Simon, the ghost/monster in this RP. But, he probably wouldn't now that at first. But, I just thought I'd let you know. Now, I'll go make you a thread.

Actually, a reaper, in its self IS OP. If you think about it, Reapers are the manefestations of Death, they are the harvester of souls whether they be tainted or not. A Reaper wouldnt feel any fear against something he would consider its prey. it would be the same as putting a T-rex in a lion's den, the outcome of the encounter would be too obvious. John would not be afraid of simon because he is a spirit; a lost soul. As I said before, a Reaper is Death encarnet, despite what most mainstream media may display on their versions of a grim reaper. Death is Death, its supreme power above all, its like the phrase goes, "Everything comes to an end."
Unless john actually has some kind of mortal weakness, there will be no point for him to be in this rp if he isnt going to be afraid and even if you were to just make him be afraid, what would be his reason? again, he's a reaper, he wont have any weaknesses against a monster that he would slay just as easily as any other. However, if you can convince me other wise than please enlighten me so that I might change my opinion.

Hmm, good point... I guess I was thinking more along the lines of the shinigami (soul reapers/reapers) from Bleach. Like I had talked to you about Kuragari. But, if he's a reaper in the traditional sense then yea, that's a bit OP. Unless (same as you said, and as it is with the shinigami) he has some sort of mortal form. Or can be given a mortal form. And/or can be killed by another spirit.

Well the thing is with Shinigamis, actually, given their namesake and translation for "Death God" they would "technically" deem Simon as no threat just as much as a you and I deem a rabbit non-threatening. But the show had seriously downgraded THOSE shinigami tremendously. To be honest, as much as I enjoy the show, they have some serious flaws in the mythos that they have created based off of the legend. Soul reapers have the ability to recover lost souls, return them to a peaceful afterlife, as well as fight souls that have become tainted (hollows) to then rest those souls as well...but if they are not fast enough, they are either sent to hell or become stronger, eat other fellow kindred, and so on and so fourth they become stronger and stronger dont want to get too much into that gategory. Soul reapers are, in themselves, technically spirits and ghosts as well, so they are technically already dead since they dont age or expire...yet they can be killed? So, they are essentially grim reapers, death GODS, and they can be killed? See, in some cases, a god dying would make sense, if the varibles were understandably justifiable.
like in the movie, clash of the titans the remake version. Zeus and the other gods were only powerful and immortal through the collective prayers of their mortal followers, if humanity stopped worshiping them, or if humanity was killed off, the gods would loose their only means of sustanance and eventually die themselves. This makes sense. But theses are REAPERS we are talking about, what weaknesses could you possibly give them? giving death a weakness is like giving...well, Death a weakness. If you dare to carry that title then you need to stand up to it, Why not say, shinigamis can be defeated, but their essense transpires or is reincarnated as another vessel. But no, even though they are grim reapers and they are the manifestation of the most fundemental and unbreakable LAW OF THE UNIVERSE...Death can be destroyed, why? for dramatic story telling, that is the only reason why they would be handicapped. thats why I'm kinda against any kind of Reaper being involved regardless of what weakness they are given, because it would not make sense. You could put down an angel or demon, because at least they have justifiable weaknesses. Angel: weak against dark magic, can be overwhelmed and tainted. Demons: weak against light, can be purified. theses are both weaknesses and fears that they can feel and be be exploited.
But a grim reaper...what do they have to fear? and thats what this RP really is about; experiencing fear.

Yea. I see what you're getting at. I guess I never really thought about that much. I just thought that it's not so much dying anymore as just killing their soul/getting rid of it forever. I mean, the shinigami of Bleach are pretty much just normal souls who've trained to become stronger and to be able to wield a zanpakto and (occasionally) use the magic that I forget what it's called. But, take the sword and the magic away from them (by, for example, putting them in their gegai) and why shouldn't they be afraid? Or if it's a new/weak shinigami that doesn't have much control of their powers. I'm sure they would be afraid.
But, as far as traditional reapers go, I agree. Much to OP unless there's some way to strip down their power. But, even then I guess you're right that they're still too OP (and wouldn't really fit) if they wouldn't be afraid. So.. yea...

That was merely my first first point. Reapers are over powered, yes. But, the scale goes both ways. I can understand that shinigami in bleach can be weak and thus be usable characters in a horror, buts thats also a problem. This goes back to why I didnt agree well with the bleach mythos.
If the soul king , which I heard is the supposed to be the creator of all soulreapers and other spiritual things, wanted to ensure that no harm would come to human souls, why entrust such awesome powers on the same souls he is trying to protect? its like trying to say youre protecting your three year old son by giving him a desert eagle. But, what I'm trying to say is that a shinigami shouldnt have any kind of emotions just like fear, other wise its negates the very definition of being a GRIM reaper. Heres a better example I can use, there was a game that came out a few years ago that was based off of the famous poem "Dante's inferno" this didnt happen in the poem, but in the Game, the first boss you face, the very first inhuman enemy you encounter is Death HIMSELF. Some might think this is cool, but if you stop for a moment to think about this situaion you realize just how bullshit it is. The first boss in many games is usually not hard at all. the first boss kinda serves as a test run for the game controls against a bigger enemy. So to see the Grim reaper as nothing more than a training boss is absolutely ridiculous. Not only is he fairly easy to beat, the makers of the game even decided to kick some sand in this myth's face by making him BEG FOR HIS LIFE.
Now, again, for some gamers, they may see this as a amazing feet of success, "Wow, I killed Death! I am so awesome!" they might say. But it is because of that mind set that has degraded the grim reaper's status and respect significantly. A mere mortal killing Death, thats like a mere mortal killing Time itself, oh wait, they did that too with God of war 3. So what I'm trying to say, even with the handicaps, it doesnt really make good story telling to have something that should be stronger by default, be weakened simply to satisfy dramatic story writing. There are many games and stories out there that inflate our ego and trick us into thinking that we are the dominant power in all of creation, when in truth, we really arnt, and time and time again, we fail to respect and accept this fact and eventually, all of our jumping and boasting usually ends us up with a face in the dirt.

Yea. I did agree with you at the end. I was just explaining what I thought about Bleach shinigami. I never said I was right (or wrong), I just gave my opinion. But, I do think you're right about the Bleach shinigami. But, also, why would anyone want to watch a show where the characters don't fear anything and can't die and are just invincible and emotionless? Wouldn't make for a good story, really. Not to mention Ichigo's only half-shinigami/spirit/whatever. Which.. doesn't quite make sense to me, but.. yea...
I agree, just the general idea of the Reaper/Death-personified has become so degraded. People have been trying to humanize him (it?) so hard for so long that we no longer see the reaper as something to be scared of. Except, of course, in places where the reaper is purposely MADE to be scary. Because we don't WANT him to be scary. We want to be scared, and (like in Dante's Inferno) defeat Death. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, everyone wants to find some way to cheat death. So, yea... Human brains. Gotta love 'em.

I see what yer saying. And yeah, even though Its understandable why in some stories that that kind of alteration would be appealing, its just I wouldnt call them shinigami, infact i prefer soul reaper over that because atleast Soul reaper sounds a bit more original.
And yeah, I dont blame people for trying to cheat death, and for stories, it can be appealing as well. but the key word is CHEAT death, not brotally murder death. I think personally, the best attempt at personifying Death was in the TV series Supernatural, even though he isnt seen very often, every word he says shudders me to my very core.

Hmm... I haven't actually seen Supernatural. But, now that I've caught up with the most recent Doctor Who, I can. :3

I'm almost done with Season 1, and I really do love it. XD
And, now I know what Soul was talking about with the cheating death thing. Unless there's something else later on. But, I think the one he was talking about was the one I saw in season 1, where there's that healer guy, and his wife is controlling Death so her husband can live and save people and stuff.

Oh, that is one of the lower class reapers believe it or not, kinda a "lesser Reaper" I dont really pay much attention to them since they are hardly ever mentioned. Death himself is revealed much later down the road.
