When my chores were finished, I knew I had a few minutes before I had to wash up for dinner. So, I went to check on Slidera and make sure she was alright. However, when I went in there, she was nowhere in sight. For a moment, I almost hoped that it had all been a bad dream. I shook my head, clearing it. "Goddammit, Slidera..." I muttered, knowing I couldn't even go look for her since it was already dark. I could only hope that she wouldn't get herself into trouble.

And like a jinx, the distant scream of the butcher's wife could be heard clear from the other side of the village, stirring everyone's attention from their dinners. Luckily, by the time everyone came onto the scene, there was no sign of Slidera, just a panting family scared out of their wits.

I went over to them, looking worried. There was no sign of her, but somehow I knew it had to be her. I needed to find out where she went. "What happened?" I asked them.

The butcher explains everything after he had sent his family back inside for protection. The other villagers were just as curious and frightened and listened intently.
"It was...It was one of those Abysmal Beasts!" The butcher exclaimed, "It was not like any I have seen before, it was even wearing garments and...and jewlery. It mightve come from...the Shrongra faction." Many of the villagers gasped as they realized the seeming gravity of the situation. Many of them knew what the Shrongra was; an organized guild of Abysmals, sentient and intelligent like the humans and they had been the ones collecting other, stronger Abysmals to use them for acts of terrorism and other blights.
"Did you see where the beast went?" One of the villagers said
"Yes. It fled into the forest north of here."
"North?" another villager said with shock, "Thats our trading route!"
The villagers agreed that they couldnt afford their only road in and out of town to be occupied by a monster, so they all assembled at the forge shop to prepare any kind of weapons they could find.

While the other villagers were gathering, I sneaked away from them. I followed the path North, hoping I could find Slidera before anyone else did. Once I was far enough away, I started calling for her. "Slidera?! Where are you?!" I shouted, looking around for any sign of her.

Slideara, protruded her head out of the trees, hearing Danilia's voice. When she spotted her, she began to rant and say, "Can you believe that woman!? After screaming at the site of me, she had the audacity to call me a...a BEAST!! She was the more beastly looking one if you ask me!"

"Well, considering what's been going on, I don't blame her for being scared." I said. "After all, she doesn't know you. I was scared of you when we first met, remember?" I sighed, looking around. "Anyway, we need to get out of here. All the villagers are going to come looking for you, and if they find you then they're going to try to kill you."

However, before Slideara could retort, there was a distant roar, a very familiar roar that was echoing from the village's direction...It was the Barrack.

I froze for a moment, terrified from just the sound. "No... It's attacking the village. We have to help!" I started heading back toward the village, hoping Slidera would come with me.

Slidera was just as shocked, the Barrack must have followed them back home. But she remembered how powerful that abysmal was the last time they fought. There was no way she could stand up to that monster on her own. She was about to refuse and just convince her to leae while they had the chance, but then she realized something. Danilia didnt have the sword with her.
"Danilia...where is Fla'uru?" she asked with dread in her tone.

"I hid it under my bed..." I said, going pale. "We have to go get it!" I took off running, hoping it wasn't too late.

Slidera didnt want to, but she had no choice, she couldnt leave the sword behind. So she ran back with Danilia, picking her up with her tail and then placing her on her slender back. She then told Danilia to hold on as she increased speed.

I grabbed onto Slidera, not wanting to fall off. "Please don't let it be too late..." I muttered to myself, hoping my family was okay.

By the time the got to the village, the entire town was in a panic. Slidera stopped near the village square, where many houses were torn apart to splinters from the devestating wake of the Barack. They didnt see it yet, but the screams and monstrous roars echoed from the east, in the opppsite direction from the farm just. Slidera then took Danilia down from her back and said to her sternly, "You must find Fla'uru. I will find the barack and keep him distracted as long as possible. Now go!"
Before she could rebuttle, The trbrin turned and chased after the trail of screams.

"Thank you!" I shouted after her, then I turned and ran to my house. Luckily, it was far enough from the town center and was still intact. I headed for my bedroom, getting the sword from under my bed. I sighed in relief that it was still here and immediately headed back out.

By the time she managed to find Slidera, half the town was burning, people were panicing and running frantically. Slidera wasnt doing so well either, she already was sustaining major briuses to her thighs, and rib area, but she was managing to evade any of the Barrack's powerful jaws. As she leaped away from another chomp, she failed to dodge the following tail swipe that bashed her right into a large cottage. Slidera was severely disoriented, struggling to get back up on her feet while the menacing Barrack lumbered over to her to finish her off as its drueling maw opened wide to crush her neck.

Panicking a bit myself, I didn't have any time to think. "Leave her alone!" I shouted, running in with the sword I had almost no idea how to wield. I moved between Slidera and the Barrack, angrily slashing at it in the hopes of at least driving it back. Right now, my only goal was to keep it from killing Slidera. Once she was back on her feet, then we could work on killing it. If that was even possible against a monster this size...

As the girl intervened, her first swing of her sword sliced clean through one of the monster's giant jagged teeth, causing the monster to howl in agony. But the Barrack then glared down ferociously at Danilia, looming over her like an angry tower. The hulking beast then raises up its heavey leg, ready to stomp on her.

My anger faded and quickly turned to fear as the Barrack turned its attention on me. I ran out from under it's big foot as fast as I can before it could crush me. I wanted to scream, but no sound came out.

The sword in her hand started to glow dimly as the hilt vibrated in her palm. By the time the Barrack had turned around, he lost sight of the human completely, yet the scent of human flesh was strong. Relying on feral instinct only, it continued to sniff heavely, wandering away from Slidera.
little to the barrack's primitive mind, Fla'uru had demonstrated its odd ability once again.
