I glared at the man in front of me, annoyed at him suddenly bursting into the room. "Princess..!" he gasped, out of breath from running. "We gave to get out of here! The kingdom is under attack!"
My anger quickly faded to fear. I grabbed a pack and put in my blanket and a picture of my mother, father, older brother and I. I grabbed my favorite bedtime story and a stuffed turtle as well. "Alright..." I said, my voice trembling.
The man smiled nervously, pushing his glasses back up before helping to put a brown cloak around me. I pulled up the hood, hiding my light-green hair. He pulled a brown cloak around himself and picked me up. "I will keep you safe, Princess Tani..."
I nodded slowly, curling up in his arms for safety. "I know..." I whispered, but I was still trembling and scared. "W-what about everyone else..? Will they be rescued..?"
The man didn't answer. He didn't know. "I hope so..." he answered. He looked at me, then back up to see where he was going. "My name is Aaron."
I nodded slowly. "Thank you, Sir Aaron..." I said.
He shook his head. "Only Aaron, please." he said. "I've not yet earned the title of Sir..."
"I apologize..." I mumbled, halfway burying my face in his shirt. I watched the hallway with one eye as it flew by. Now, we were in the unused secret hallway. I had only been here once, when we had practiced what would happen if I needed to escape. It seemed much scarier now, and I gripped Aaron's cloak a bit tighter. "Please, never let me go..." I whispered.
"I promise." he whispered, pulling me closer. I leaned all the way into his cloak, listening to the sound of his shoes breaking the silence as he ran down the dark stone stairway.
